Greetings from Captain Basil in a warm and sunny
South Africa!
This summer so far has seen sea temperatures rise to above 16-20
C and with the warm water water the arrival of large shoals
of Yellowtail,Yellow and Longfin tuna . We have also made good
catches of Snoek which have decided to stay during summer. The
Yellowtail, Yellowfin and Longfin tuna returned on cue for the
summer season and will continue to provide lots of action.
Whilst it is easy to pick up the shoals of yellowfin on the
fishfinder, they move around a lot. So one has to be ready for
the quiet of the day to be broken by all reels running as bait,
fly or lure are rapidly taken and the fight starts.Tuna, with
their torpedo-shaped bodies, provide an excellent fight and
test angler and tackle and make good eating thereafter
In addition to excellent fishing, summer offers good opportunities
to spot the ever popular Seals, Penguins, Sharks, Dolphins,
Birds and other marine creatures.

: Offshore Charter.
Leaving Simon's town we headed to Cape Point ,and then offshore
to where we had caught on our last trip which produced excellent
catches. We got into some nice fish.
: John Joined us
John joined us to do some Offshore fishing, we found tuna
feeding Offshore and the lures were dropped the first Tuna was
brought to the boat, thereafter we had many shoals of tuna with
us during the day. We also managed to get some yellowtail trolling
Rapalas.
Good catches of this voracious fish are being made daily, giving
great sport on fly and light tackle.
We continue to offer our full range of charters catering for
the experienced and novice angler. As well as offering birding
and other sightseeing trips. Trips around False Bay and to Cape
Point remain an experience to remember.
We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you on board
Big Fisher for an exciting Charter together,
Yours in fishing,
Captain Basil.

Snoek, with their sleek, long bodies provide an excellent fight
